FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything about how ViralSidekick reads a channel, what the scan covers, and the analytics behind the grade.
Is the ViralSidekick channel scan free?
Yes. A full channel scan is free and needs no signup. Paid plans add blueprints, deeper intel, and live tracking.
Does ViralSidekick need access to my YouTube account?
No. The free scan reads public data only, so you can scan your own channel or any channel without logging in.
What is a viral-readiness grade?
It is a single S to F score for how primed a channel is to break out, based on outlier rate, cadence, posting consistency, and momentum. See it on the free channel grade page.
How much does Pro cost?
Pro is 19 USD per month, or 190 USD per year, and the Team plan is 39.99 USD per month for up to 5 seats. Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial and bills through Stripe, cancel anytime.
What is an outlier video?
A video that beats the channels own median views by 2.5x or more. Outliers are measured against your own baseline, not against bigger channels.
Why did my YouTube video get no views?
Almost always weak click through rate or a retention cliff in the first 30 seconds. The algorithm shows your thumbnail to a small test audience, and if few click or few stay, distribution stops. Diagnose which one failed before you touch anything else.
How many views is considered viral on YouTube?
There is no fixed number. Viral is relative to your own baseline, measured as an outlier ratio. A video that does 3x to 10x your channel median is a true outlier, whether that median is 500 views or 500,000.
Does posting more often make you go viral?
Not by itself. Cadence helps the algorithm learn your audience faster, but posting more weak videos just teaches it to show your work to fewer people. Fix the outlier rate first, then raise volume.
Is there one best time to post on YouTube?
No. There is a best time for your specific channel, and it comes from when your own top-performing videos went live. A generic chart cannot know your audiences timezone or watch habits.
How many videos do I need before my posting data is reliable?
Aim for at least 15 to 20 published videos. That gives you enough top performers to spot a real pattern instead of reacting to one lucky upload.
Does posting time matter more than the video itself?
No. Packaging and topic decide most of a videos fate. Posting time is a smaller edge that helps a strong video get seen faster in its first 24 hours.
What counts as a YouTube outlier video?
An outlier is any video that beats your channels own median view count by a set multiple, usually 2.5x or more. It signals a video that connected with a wider audience than your normal upload.
Why use median views instead of average?
Median is the middle value of your library, so one massive hit or one flop can't distort it. Average gets pulled around by extremes, which hides the true baseline you should measure outliers against.
Should I compare shorts and long-form separately?
Yes. Shorts and long-form have very different view scales, so mixing them into one median hides real outliers. Calculate a separate median for each and grade each video against its own kind.
Do YouTube Shorts hurt my long-form views?
Not on their own. Shorts and long-form live in different feeds, so a low-performing short does not drag down a video. Problems only show up when you judge them by the same numbers, which makes long-form look weak next to inflated shorts view counts.
Why do my Shorts get way more views than my videos?
A short counts a view the moment it starts playing in the swipe feed, and the feed pushes shorts to huge cold audiences. Long-form has to earn every click through a thumbnail and title, so raw view counts are not the same unit.
Should I compare a short to a long-form video?
No. Compare each short to your median short and each long-form video to your median long-form video. Cross-format comparison mixes two different scoring systems and gives you a false read.
